Mike Kilgore is the executive director of the Alabama Farmers Federation and general manager of Alfa Services Inc. Prior to his appointment effective January 2001, he served as assistant executive director from 1998-2000. As executive director, he manages the staff of the Alabama Farmers Federation and assists the president in promoting agriculture and working to stabilize the farm economy.
Mr. Kilgore began his career with Alfa Farmers as an area organization director in 1974. He also has served as director of the Federation's Young Farmers Division and assistant director of the Department of Organization. From 1981 until 2000, he served as director of the Federation's Department of Organization.
Mr. Kilgore is a 1970 graduate of Auburn University with a degree in agricultural economics and business. Prior to his work with the Federation, he was employed by the Auburn University Extension System as a county agent in Bullock and Elmore counties.
A native of Nauvoo, Ala., in Winston County, Mr. Kilgore is a member of the Alabama 4-H Foundation Board and past-president of the Auburn University Agriculture Alumni Association. He serves on the Deans Council for the College of Agriculture at Auburn University. He has been active in various youth and community activities, having served on the board of directors of the YMCA and the Elmore County Children's Home, as well as serving as a United States swim official and an official for Dixie Youth Baseball. He is past president of the Wetumpka Jaycees and was charter president of the River City Kiwanis Club. He is chairman of his local selective service board. Mr. Kilgore is a member of the Vaughn Forest Baptist Church where he is serving as a greeter and on the property maintenance committee.
He and his wife, the former Linda Kennedy of Foley, make their home in Pike Road. They have a daughter and son-in-law with three sons, a son and daughter-in-law with a son and daughter, and one single son.
